A short film commissioned by New Zealand Post
LITTLE DAY OUT
Client : New Zealand Post
In March 2012 New Zealand Post sponsored a group of 200 primary school children from underprivileged areas around Wellington to see a dress rehearsal of Peter and The Wolf at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington. The film was running as part of the International Arts Festival and was accompanied by a live orchestra. Some of the kids had never been on a bus into Wellington, let alone see a show like this. NZ Post asked me to make a short film about their experience. This involved going to one of the Schools in Porirua to follow them for the day. The most challenging part of the shoot was at the show itself as my only light source was the projector screen. I also had to try and hide from their view so as not to distract them during the show.
The reaction to my film was very positive and was featured on several news websites including the New Zealand Herald (view here).
Client Feedback:
“New Zealand Post was seeking a short film to highlight one of its sponsorship activities, but something a different from what agencies would deliver – we didn’t want ‘just another ad’. Ro’s brief was to provide a production with subtlety, emotion and above all, a quality film in its own right. He delivered 100% on the brief, and brought his own unique style and talent in what was an easy, straightforward process. We’ve had tremendous feedback as a result of Ro’s film, and New Zealand Post would recommend him for other corporate work.” – John Tulloch, Communications Manager, NZ Post Group.

Hi Francisco. Thanks for your feedback. The song in this video is “Finding Hope” by Dan Phillipson. I don’t think he has released the song to the general public but you may be able to play it here: http://www.last.fm/music/Dan+Phillipson
The Snow On Cuba Mall video’s music is a piece called “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy which you should be able to find on itunes.
Thanks again.
Ro.
